Boy am I tired... I started heading to Colorado on September 17, 2013. After I spent the night in Colby, KS I arrived before noon on the 18th at the ServiceMaster in Aurora, CO. Things didn't look too bad. I scheduled about 7 water damage estimates for the afternoon in Boulder and one in Lyons. Marie had to "sneak" me into Lyons to look at her home. Wow was that town messed up. I quickly found out that 7 estimates, trying to drive around this area on the Colorado Front Range, was idiotic. However, a young lady back at our Wichita office booked me for 12 on Thursday! There was no WAY I could make them all. Thank goodness Jerry showed up to help on Friday. Up through Thursday evening I saw a few things, and Lyons was bad, but most damage was minor. Boy was THAT going to change. Jerry and I saw our first real damage Friday morning at the first estimate on Twin Peaks Circle in Longmont. The picture above is from that street. The first basement we saw had been inundated by 7' of standing water. The basement HAD been finished, but you could not tell by the layer of mud. Every home we saw that day was a total flood mess and I started to become emotionally attached to the jobs we were doing as women began to cry and men were exhausted from trying to fix things. It is a little tiring when your heart begins to break and you are working to fix everyone's problem right NOW. Well, after 2 weeks here we are almost ready to wrap it up. It will be a long time before things return to normal for the people that live here. However, for the ones we have helped I hope we have sped them on their journey.Thad
